Thinking PL∀’s®: surface enhancement with PLA films

Thinking PL∀’s® is an innovative collection of plant-based bioriented PLA films designed for application to paper and cardboard.

These films, boasting natural brilliance and developed for luxury packaging, are also suitable for other paper converting products, thanks to their grease and gas barrier properties.

Applications
Graphics, luxury packaging, food packaging.

Features
Rigidity, low-temperature heat sealability, grease barrier, gas barrier, brilliance and transparency.

Material
The films are derived from renewable and bio-based raw materials, with over 80% of plant origin. Many layers in Thinking PL∀’s® line are certified with the “CONVENTIONAL PLASTIC FREE® – Material” mark, which distinguishes products with reduced fossil material content.

Finishes
Glossy, matte, soft-touch, anti-scratch, colored, silver, gold, holographic. Surfaces are printable and customizable
with Pantone® colors.

Sustainability
Products are available with FSC® certifications upon request. The PLA resin biodegrades in an anaerobic
environment within 3 months (EN13432) and, through microorganisms, is metabolized into water, CO2, and
biomass. Thinking PL∀’s® laminates are recyclable with paper according to the Aticelca® method (UNI 11743).
Comparative LCA of the Ecogloss Silver film with 12-micron metallized PET: 61% reduction in CO2 emissions at
equal weight (PLA: 1.56 kg CO2 e/kg film; PET/PMMA: 4.01 kg CO2 e/kg film*).
